The former of this project is a garment factory built in the 1990s. After the owner buys the entire vacant factory area, he plans to keep the original building and renovate it into a children's activity center with a children's science and technology museum as the main part, integrating hotels, parent-child education, study tour camp, business and other comprehensive business forms. In order to respond to different constraints and functional requirements of the site, we adopted different transformation strategies for the twelve single buildings, so we focused on the relationship between the single buildings and the overall complex and the mountain environment during the transformation process. The biggest spatial experience feature of the transformation project of Miyun Garment Factory is to create an approachability scale between the massive factory building and the vast mountains in the north. A series of spatial structures such as footpaths, corridors, small squares and courtyards are placed to connect the activity space of the north courtyard to the accommodation area of the south courtyard, which is a continuous three-dimensional landscape experience.
