The volume of the Heytown Arts Centre emerges from the original zigzag shape of an industrial factory building and gradually stretches forward, twisting almost at the end of the elevated railway line. Its bold silhouette undulates, and its metal skin reacts in the light of the sky, creating a "wonderful floating sensation" over the thick red brick walls, bringing a keen and lively atmosphere to the otherwise dull skyline.
